Shibumi Ubud Bali: New Japanese Boutique Hotel

Our Stay at Shibumi : A Hidden Japanese-Style Villa in Ubud, Bali.
If you're looking for a peaceful, beautiful place to stay in Ubud, Bali Shibumi might be the perfect spot.
We (Maik and Sabrina) recently stayed there for two nights, and it was such a relaxing and inspiring experience.
From the quiet forest surroundings to the stunning Japanese-inspired design, everything about this place felt intentional and calm.
In this blog, we’ll share what we loved about Shibumi and why we think it’s one of the best private villas in Ubud.

📍 Location: A Hidden Gem in Ubud
Shibumi is located just a short drive from the center of Ubud, in a quiet and peaceful area surrounded by greenery. You won’t hear traffic or busy streets, just the sounds of nature. It’s a perfect place if you want to disconnect and relax, but still be close to restaurants, markets, and cafes.

🏯 Architecture & Design: Inspired by Japan
The moment we entered the villa, we noticed the clean lines, soft colors, and minimalist design. Everything is inspired by Japanese culture from the layout to the small details in the wood, lighting, and textures.
The villa is built on two floors. It feels very spacious and open, but also cozy at the same time. The materials used are natural and calming: wood, stone, and soft neutral tones like beige, white, and grey. The lighting is soft and warm, creating a peaceful vibe day and night.

🛋️ Downstairs: Living Room, Kitchen & Pool
When you walk in, you first see the open living room and fully equipped kitchenette. This part really impressed us. There were dishes, cutlery, glasses, a teapot, and even special Japanese-style cups. It’s perfect if you want to make tea or cook a simple meal.
The private pool is just a few steps away, with a full view of the jungle. It was super quiet and relaxing. We spent hours there just enjoying the nature around us.
Next to the pool, the bathroom has a beautiful stone bathtub with a window looking out to the forest. We asked for a Balinese flower bath, and the team at Shibumi prepared it perfectly for us. They were so kind, helpful, and professional.

🛏️ Upstairs: Bedroom with a Forest View
An indoor wooden staircase takes you upstairs to the bedroom. The staircase itself is beautifully designed, with dim lighting and warm wood that continues the Japanese vibe.

The bedroom is big and full of natural light during the day. It has a balcony with the same amazing forest view as the pool downstairs. The bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve slept on, and we loved the little touches like the Marshall speaker, a huge smart TV, and a high-tech remote. It felt modern, but still cozy and peaceful.
The upstairs bathroom had a clean shower, a small closet, hairdryer, iron, and a safe. Everything was well thought-out and super clean.
But the best part? The outdoor stone bathtub next to the bedroom. Taking a bath outside with the forest view and tropical air was such a special experience. It’s one of those things that makes you feel like you’re really in Bali.

Then Shibumi is definitely worth checking out.
💰 Price & Booking Info
We stayed in the biggest villa (the one with the private pool and forest view) and paid $115 USD per night, including breakfast. For the quality and experience, it was totally worth the price.
They also have other villa options, depending on your budget and preferences.

🌿 Final Thoughts
Shibumi is one of the most unique places we’ve stayed in Bali. It’s not just a villa, it's an experience. Everything from the design to the peaceful location helped us relax, recharge, and feel inspired again.
